Developers in Sydney’s southwest are looking to the sky as a proposal seeks to build a multistorey apartment block in the rapidly growing region.
Plans have been lodged to Campbelltown Council for a five-storey apartment block with 25 units and 30 carpark spaces at 8-10 Cambridge St, Ingleburn
The proposal would include four one-bedroom units, 20 two-bedroom units and a three-bedroom unit in a building standing 14.9m tall – just 10cm below the 15m height limit.
Currently, two older style single-storey houses are located at the development site but would be demolished to make way for the apartments.
Residents who move into the units would be in walking distance of Ingleburn Public School, parks, places of public worship the train station and bus stops.
The development comes amid a push to kickstart the high-rise transformation of other parts of Ingleburn.
The Ingleburn Precinct Plan seeks to change planning controls to increase building height limits, allow a higher density of commercial and residential development, provide more public open space and improve flood evacuation routes, car park provisions, and pedestrian access.
Under that plan, to maintain the village feel of Ingleburn, buildings fronting Oxford Rd would be restricted to two storeys, with higher buildings set back from the street.
The plan was on public exhibition and currently council is reviewing the feedback.
