A 21-year-old tried to rob and threaten two people armed with scissors before assaulting and resisting police after a boozy night out.

David Tang, of Liverpool, faced Campbelltown Court on Wednesday via video link from Shortland Correctional Centre in the Hunter Valley.

He has been in custody since his arrest on June 20, when he was charged with two counts of assaulting with intent to rob armed with an offensive weapon, resisting an officer and assaulting a police officer.

He pleaded guilty to all charges.

Court documents state on the evening of June 20, Tang went to the Cabramatta Hotel, on the corner of Old Cabramatta Road and Railway Parade, for several hours.

He then left the hotel at 10.20pm before crossing the road onto John Street where he saw two people ordering food at a pork roll shop.

Tang approached one of the men and asked if he had credit and to use his phone, which the man replied “I don’t have credit”.

When the men told Tang he couldn’t use their phone, the 21-year-old removed broken scissors from his hoodie and said: “I’m going to chop all your three heads off” as he waved them at the men.

“F**k you cuz. I’m going to chop you. Before you leave, I’m going to take your money, phone and earring. I want all your mobile phones, give me all of your money, all of yous,” Tang said, according to court documents.

The men began to walk away but Tang followed and hit one of the men on the head.

He then grabbed the other man by his jacket collar and dragged him up the street with the scissors in his other hand.

“I will slit your throat,” Tang yelled as he dragged the man down the street.

A police car driving past noticed the commotion, prompting Tang to let go of the man and run into an alleyway.

Police found him searching through a bin before running back into the Cabramatta Inn and hiding in the toilets until he was asked to leave by a security guard.

When he left the building he again tried to run from police into the carpark but he was stopped and arrested.

According to court documents, two police officers had to hold Tang down as another put handcuffs on him.

Tang was sweating, mumbling and appeared to be intoxicated.

The 21-year-old resisted arrest by thrashing his arms around and wrapping his hands around a pole, refusing to let go.

Constable Jonas Tejada tried to pry Tang’s hands from the pole but he continued to resist and yelled: “You are going to hurt me, go on. I am not scared of yous (sic)”.

Four police officers had to place handcuffs on the offender and attempted to place him inside a caged police vehicle.

He continued to resist by kicking his legs towards police, causing them to use one burst of capsicum spray on his face.

As he continued to kick towards police, Senior Constable Adam Raw was kicked in the hand, forcing his fingers to become pinned to the plastic cage.

A total of six police officers were required to complete the arrest, who claimed Tang was intoxicated, violent and uncooperative towards police at Mt Druitt Police Station.

On Wednesday, Tang also pleaded guilty to intentionally destroying or damaging property.

A week prior to the assault charges on June 14, the Liverpool local was seen drinking in the street near the Mekong Club at 117 John St, Cabramatta, at 7.37pm.

While he was talking to other people he saw a boom gate connected to the club and sat on it in “an unorthodox manner causing it to collapse slightly”.

“The actions resulted in recklessly damaging the property and deeming it inoperable,” documents say.

Another person then jumped on it, causing the gate to fall to the ground.

Tang tried to put his hoodie on to cover his head as he picked up the boom gate and put it on the edge of the entry to the carpark.

The 21-year-old left the premises without speaking to anyone at Mekong Club, but the entire incident was caught on CCTV.

Police attended Newcastle Police Station and interviewed Tang where he was in custody, and admitted to the malicious damage.

In court on Wednesday, Tang’s application for bail was refused and his assault charges were moved to the District Court.

He is set to face Campbelltown Court for the damaged property charge on March 16.
