A teenager allegedly involved in the kidnapping and torture of an Edmondson Park man will remain behind bars on remand.

The 17-year-old boy was charged by Criminal Groups Squad detectives with special aggravated break and enter with intent while armed with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping in company with intent, and participating in a criminal group.

He was arrested at Campbelltown Police Station on Thursday over his alleged role in the kidnapping and torturing of the man.

Police said detectives had established Strike Force Currambene in July to investigate organised criminal acts including shootings, home invasions, kidnapping and drug supply allegedly carried out by a group that was hired by and operating on behalf of organised criminal networks.

The alleged incidents include a public place shooting at Austral in July and a home invasion and kidnapping at Edmondson Park in August.

Investigations led detectives to arrest and charge three men over their alleged roles in the shooting, home invasion and kidnapping. They each remain before the courts.

Further investigations led police to arresting the 17-year-old, who faced a children’s court on Thursday.

He was refused bail, with his matter set to return to court next week as investigations continue.
