Apartment living may soon arrive in the heart of Narellan with a $32 million development proposed for Somerset Ave — a stone’s throw from Narellan Town Centre.
The development, which is set to be known as Somerset Gardens, will feature 100 apartments and terrace housing in five buildings, to be built in three stages.
The buildings will be a mix of one, two and three bedroom units, and range between two- to four-storeys in height, permitted under current regulations.
Speaking on behalf of the proponent Elyard Gardens Development Pty Ltd, David Taylor said the development would deliver apartment living within walking distance of a major shopping centre, medical facilities, library, community services, police station and primary school.
“We think as the area grows, while there is a lot of new housing around, some people will either want or need apartment living in convenient locations,” he said.
“We are going to take a step forward in that market.
“We think Narellan has really grown and modernised across the last five to 10 years. It is time for people to have the opportunity to live in that environment, to live close to those key facilities, close to transport, close to jobs and be able to capitalise on everything Narellan has to offer.

“(The proposed development) is a step forward for Narellan and will hopefully provide convenient and affordable housing for a whole range of people.”
Each building would include a basement car park, with 141 carparking spaces in total.
Mr Taylor said, pending approval, construction would be expected to begin next year.
The proposed development is expected to be assessed by the Joint Regional Planning Panel.
