Aaron Cooper, 21, has been banned from driving for 18 months after admitting to a high-speed police chase that resulted in a serious crash in Macquarie Fields.
The P-plater was spotted by police speeding in a 60km/h zone on Harold Street, Macquarie Fields, after 11pm on May 6, while driving with four passengers.
The court heard Cooper, who lives in Leumeah, reached speeds of 100km/h in residential streets, while attempting to evade police.
Cooper lost control of the Nissan Pulsar, before flipping it onto its roof in thick bushland.
He was trapped in the car, until he was arrested by police.
All five occupants of the car received only minor injuries.
In Campbelltown Court on Tuesday, Magistrate Shane McAnulty described the young man’s driving record as ‘not very impressive’ and said it was lucky no one was killed in the crash.
Cooper pleaded guilty to his part in the police pursuit during an earlier court appearance.
The magistrate handing Cooper an 18-month Community Corrections Order, and 150 hours of community service.
Cooper will be disqualified from driving for 18 months.
