Castle Hill United have secured the first Football NSW State Cup Championships for the new Hills Football Association after a jubilant victory at Glenwood earlier this month.

The U13 Boys took home the trophy in their division at the 2017 Deploy State Cup Finals against St George’s Connells Point Rovers after scoring a winning goal in the second half of extra time.

The finals were held at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday, July 16, with teams from U12s to Over 35s and all-age women taking part.

It was the first Football NSW State Cup Championship to be won by a team in the new Hills Football Association and the first time an U13 team has won for Castle Hill United FC.

The win came after 12 weeks of hard work to win all six of their games throughout the tournament.

The team’s sportsmanship was best demonstrated by the fact they did not have a dedicated goalkeeper, so each team member stepped up and took a turn as goalie.

The Hills Football Association were well represented in the finals, with Winston Hills and Baulkham Hills football clubs also playing on the day.

Winston Hills had two teams in the final, with the 12-Boys defeated 3-0 by South Coast’s Shellharbour Junior FC, and the 18-Boys team defeated 2-1 by Sutherland’s Kirrawee.

Baulkham Hills FC took on Central Coast’s Ourimbah United in the Over 35 Men’s final, with Ourimbah clinching a 2-1 win.

Castle Hill United U13 Boys team have been nominated for a Junior Sports Star Team award in the Local Sports Stars program.

Nominations are now open.
