Tianna raises the javelin mark while starring for the Hills junior baseball team as the sole female player

IT’S been a terrific year for Tianna Davidson, for not only she has heaved a massive throw to smash the javelin record for her age group but is the only female in the Hills junior league baseball team which heads for the Little League World Series in Michigan.

IT’S been a terrific year for Tianna Davidson, for not only she has heaved a massive throw to smash the javelin record for her age group but is the only female in the Hills junior league baseball team which heads for the Little League World Series in Michigan.

The Quakers Hill Pirates pitcher is this week’s nominee for the Local Sports Star Award and has a bright future in her sports.

Lianna, who attends Hills Sports High, is the top ranked under-14 javelin thrower in Australian Little League, with her throw earlier this year of 52.23 metres eclipsing her own mark by nearly 4.5m.

“I sometimes find it difficult to adjust to javelin and baseball but I work hard on my training,’ Lianna said.

“I have been competing in athletics since I was nine, starting with the discus.

“I am happy to break the Australian javelin record and also have won the Combined High School javelin title this year.

“I will be working on my strength and conditioning during the off season.”

Lianna is the star pitcher for the NSW youth women’s team — whom she has represented since she was 12 — and won the Golden arm award this year for helping them win the nationals.

In the gold medal game, Lianna had seven strikeouts, one hit, no walks, no runs.

She took this form to the nationals at the end of May where the Hills junior league baseball team outclassed Ryde 7-1 in the final in Adelaide.

“I am very excited to be going for the World Series,” Lianna said.

“Being the only girl in the Hills baseball team is not a problem because the boys treat me as one of them.

“I often play with boys on the baseball teams.”

During a typical week during baseball season, Lianna will train twice per week and also play two games. She has javelin training at least one night and competes in athletics on another.

In addition she attends The Hills Sports High School’s Talented Sports baseball program.
