The Rouse Hill Rhinos’ under-10/2s side is a class act in every way.
Much of the team has played together since the under-6’s and last season made their first grand final.
While their play on the field was outstanding the team has also been committed to making a difference away from footy, raising funds and awareness for causes such as Pink Day, Cancer Council’s Relay for Life and Beanies for Brain Cancer.
“The most pleasing thing about this team’s efforts in helping charity fundraising and awareness is that they are generally happy to do it,” coach Troy Porter said.
“When we ask that we might only need some players to spare some of their time outside of their normal footy schedule for a charity event, all of them put their hand up to help out.”
The Rhinos are sponsored by Castle Hill RSL Club, who has assisted the team in sharing and activating the causes they are passionate about, including the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Ronald McDonald House Westmead, the NSW Cancer Council Hills Relay for Life and Jersey Day.
The Team also were outstanding ambassadors for junior sport in NSW when they were invited by Clubs NSW to be involved in a state wide junior sports media campaign.
The Rouse Hill Rhinos are the latest nominee for the Rouse Hill Times Local Sports Stars awards, which are on until August 31.
Prizes will be awarded to athletes aged 18 and under across four categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual and Young Sporting Spirit Team. There is also a Service To Sport category.
