A whole team effort has gone into the Penrith Panthers Baseball Club’s under-9 Lynx spectacular recent T-ball season.

The 11-strong squad, made up of 10 boys and one girl, all contributed to the Lynx’ undefeated season in the Greater Western Baseball Association competition.

“(They) had a marvellous season this year,” said Jim Devine, whose grandson Jack Berwick received the team’s coaches award.

“The Lynx were undefeated all year and wound up the season with a win by an innings in the Grand Final.

“Their statistics for and against for the normal season was 350 runs for and 213 against for a difference of +137.”

The Penrith Panthers Baseball Club’s under-9 Lynx are the latest nominee for the Penrith Press Local Sports Stars award.

The awards are on until August 31. Prizes will be awarded to athletes aged 18 and under across four categories: Junior Sports Star Individual, Junior Sports Star Team, Young Sporting Spirit Individual and Young Sporting Spirit Team. There is also a Service To Sport category.

“Your Local Club is proud to support this program, which shines a light on elite young athletes and the volunteers,” ClubsNSW chief executive Anthony Ball said.
