One state championship is great; two back to back is simply awesome.

After being crowned champions at the 2018 Netball NSW Junior State Titles, Penrith District Netball Association’s 13-Under squad successfully defended their championship with a dominant display at this year’s competition.

The girls looked unstoppable from the first game, racking up multiple wins before their momentum was finally halted by a narrow 12-9 loss to Illawarra.

However that was the only time the team were on the losing end of the scoreline all competition as they steamrolled through their remaining games to claim their second-straight championship with 17 wins, one loss and one draw from 19 games.

Penrith District Netball Association President Joy Gillett said she was absolutely thrilled with the girls’ achievement.

“I’m extremely proud and pleased for them,” she said.

“We’ve known for several months that we were going to do pretty good but when you consider the calibre of the other teams, it’s quite incredible.”

Penrith’s 13-Under squad is a Press Team of Excellence nominee for the 2019 Local Sports Stars competition.
