Local Sports Star nominee Tristan Morson fires up at swimming and fundraising

TRISTAN Morson has had remarkable success not only in swimming but also fundraising where his remarkable efforts has raised nearly $5000.

TRISTAN Morson has had remarkable success not only in swimming but also fundraising where his remarkable efforts has raised nearly $5000.

The Maraylya junior has been competing for Castle Hill RSL Dolphins, C2K Swimming and — Collaroy Surf Livesaving Club for the past several years, while making the state team for the past two seasons.

Tristan is this week’s nominee for the Junior Sports Star Award’s Young Sporting Spirit.

He trains 3-4 sessions each week for the Dolphins and also competes on Friday nights at the C2K Swimming.

Having swum since the under-6s for Collaroy Nippers, Tristan has competed at a state level in open water swimming, swim relay, board paddling board relay, flags, and beach sprint.

When he competed at the Balmoral Ocean swim, Tristan said he wanted to raise funds for the

Children’s Cancer Institute because he knows two children who are dealing with cancer.

”My best achievements have been representing at the State Surf Lifesaving Championships at Swansea Belmont, Newcastle, achieving three bronze medals for Open water swim, Board & Ironman at the club championships and progressing through the levels to higher still water squad programs,” Tristan said.

“Definitely my swimming has improved and in the surf over the last 12 months.

“I’ve gained so much more confidence in the bigger surf.”

Jake said he loves helping people which is why he is always fundraising.

“I like helping people and making a difference in the community,” the 11-year-old Rouse Hill Anglican College student said.

“I would like to keep training hard, competing, loving my sports and helping others.”

Tristan recently volunteered as a ‘Do Something Day’ representative for Castle Hill RSL Dolphins baking cupcakes for The Hills Local Area Command to thank them for keeping our community safe.
