Coach Shane Caffyn said he took over the team with a bit of apprehension but the children won him over.

“It has been a fantastic experience for both myself and my son,” Caffyn said.

“It has allowed me to be involved in a sport that he loves and it has led him to make some fantastic friends.

“We are so lucky to be working with such a great group of kids.

“They go to school together and play soccer during recess and lunch, they train together, reach week and play at games over the weekends.
“They love soccer and I think most of all they love playing together as a team.

“We are introducing set plays during training and they have started to put these plays into practice during the games.

“It has been exciting to see their hard work at training start to pay off.”

“Somehow we have kids with differing talents on the field.

“We have kids who have settled into defending, while others are born strikers.

“It has been interesting to watch their natural skills develop over the last two season.

“I feel so lucky to be bringing up our kids in an area where there is such a great sense of community; where they can make lasting friendships while playing a sport they love.”

The mother of Samuel, Helen Macri added: “The friendships that have formed have been remarkable.

“They look out for each other at school and even their siblings have formed great relationships.”
