When 17-year-old boxer Jayden Buan steps into the ring for his Australian Open Age Title bout against an older and more experienced opponent next week, he knows he’ll have a mighty challenge on his hands.
But the Plumpton resident wouldn’t want it any other way.
“It’s a hard fight against a good opponent,” Jayden said.
“Some say I’m the underdog but I find I’m always the underdog. I like that and I’m confident I can win the title.”
Jayden’s title bout comes after ‘The Bullet’ took out the Under-19 King of the Ring tournament in June.
Jayden is a Blacktown Advocate Junior Sports Star nominee for the 2019 Local Sports Stars competition. The awards recognise and reward talented athletes as well as the hardworking volunteers who keep associations running each weekend.
