AFL is the name of the game in the Organ household, particularly for dad Alistair.

After growing up playing footy in Melbourne, Organ got back on to the field when his three young boys joined the Kellyville Rouse Hill Magpies.

“I grew up in Melbourne and moved to Sydney in high school and stopped playing,” he said.

“I got back into it about 12 years ago when my boys started playing in the U9s.”

Organ has been part of the Magpies for more than a decade, holding various coaching, volunteering and committee positions.

“It’s a fantastic club,” he said.

Organ, who currently coaches U15s, said he had enjoyed watching athletes grow and develop in his time at the club.

He has previously coached U12s, U13s and U14s before taking on the U15s.

“... It’s good to see them all develop and see them turn from little 12-year-olds to young men,” he said.

He has drawn out the talents of many young players who have gained selection to various representative teams, with nine players selected to the GWS Giants Academy.

Outside of coaching, Organ has been playing for the Northwest Sydney Redbacks for the past five or six years.

He also played for NSW/ACT in the 2016 National Masters Championships and was named an All Australian player.

Organ has been nominated for the Local Sports Stars’ Service to Sport award, which recognises club members or volunteers in community sporting organisations.
