A KELLYVILLE plumber has scored an incredible 14-under par 58 at a recent Saturday club competition.
Marty Carmichael’s round at the Castle Hill Country Club last month included 12 birdies and an eagle.
The 46-year-old, who plays off +6 handicap, has been a member of the club for about eight years, but as a busy father-of-two he usually only has the chance to play once a month.
“When I do, I get out there and enjoy it,” he said.
Carmichael’s score came on a visit to the course about three weeks ago.
“You don’t go out every day and expect to shoot 58,” he said.
The incredible feat generated quite a bit of buzz at the club and on social media.
“Everyone in the pro shop was quite excited about it all,” he said.
Although Carmichael’s result beat the current course record of 60, it was not counted as a record because the competition was only off the member’s tees.
However, the happy golfer said it was still a “good experience”.
“There’s not too many people that have 58 ever,” he said.
