Chris Martin’s coaching strategy all comes down to one thing: passion.

“My aim is to get kids as passionate about football as those that play at the highest level.”

A lifelong football fan, Martin runs Motivate Football Coaching throughout the Ryde area- a program that aims to foster not just physical skill but a deeper mental understanding of the game.

Martin began the program in January and calls it “the best thing (he’s) ever done.

“It can be frustrating, until you see the joy the kids get out of it. I believe kids learn by repetition and doing it themselves so they can grow that passion and knowledge of the game.

“Motivate teaches kids about the mental side of football. You can have less physical ability than your teammates, but if you’ve got the mental capacity to understand the game and control your emotions your can be just as good.

“Most importantly it gives them the confidence to play the game even though they never thought they would be good at it.”

Motivate’s next football camp runs from Monday, July 10 until Wednesday, July 12. For more information, go to motivatefootballcoaching.com
