Cheer Energy at Castle Hill has electrified the international stage at the 2019 Global Games, taking out the youth pom division (ages 5-11) in Hawaii in May.

The six-strong squad earned the opportunity to represent Australia at the elite competition after finishing first place at last year’s Cheerbrandz National Championships.

After five months of intense training in order to perfect their routine, which was choreographed by Ashleigh Johnston and Madeleine Wahab, the girls nailed their performance when it mattered most to be crowned champions ahead of a host of impressive teams from across the United States and China.

The girls also got the opportunity to proudly represent the Australian flag as part of a special parade of champions.

Cheer Energy owner Alanna Marchant said the victory made the months of exhaustive training worth it.

“The team was absolutely ecstatic and shocked and everyone was in tears when they

were announced in first place,” Marchant said.

“There are no words to describe the level of happiness we were all feeling.”

Coach Johnston said she could not be more proud of the girls’ efforts.

“There are no words we can express to show our feelings towards our team,” she said.

“They truly worked so hard. They earned their win.”

Cheer Energy’s youth pom team is a Hills Shire Times Team of Excellence nominee for the 2019 Local Sports Stars competition, which is proudly sponsored by Featherdale Wildlife Park and Bankstown Sports.
