WARWICK Farm Racecourse will be transformed into a lifestyle destination when the Inglis family’s new development is complete.
The famous racing empire is heading west from their Randwick home of 100 years, moving their thoroughbred business to a $140m purpose-built complex called Riverside Stables.
The new complex’s sales arena will feature ringside dining, corporate boxes and a mezzanine bar.
Southwest Sydney will also receive an injection of glamour with the 144-room William Inglis Hotel, microbrewery, bars, restaurant and a day spa.
Each of the hotel rooms, which include large suites and family rooms, will have names and themes based on one of the Inglis family’s many champion racehorses.
The Newmarket restaurant will be a paddock-to-plate style eatery, while a spectacular rooftop bar and pool deck will offer sweeping views of the racecourse precinct, the Georges River and Chipping Norton Lake.
A barn, simply titled The Big Barn, will double as a venue for major horse sales and weddings or other special occasions.
The hotel will stand between two Moreton Bay fig trees, which were grown from saplings of the famous Newmarket Fig Tree at the Inglis family business’ historic former location.
A 300m avenue of Cyprian plane trees will line a walkway for horses and pedestrians, which will also host the Inglis Walk of Fame celebrating champions on and off the track.
Inglis managing director Mark Webster said the Riverside Stables complex was an investment in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry for the next 100 years.
“Newmarket has been a wonderful home for our company and I have great respect for the role it has played in the lives of our customers over many generations,” Mr Webster said.
“The team at Inglis look forward to celebrating those memories over the coming months while we also unveil all of the wonderful attributes of our new complex.”
Inglis will host its first horse sale at Riverside Stables in early February next year.
