A preschool in Prestons has confirmed a reported case of COVID-19 at the centre was a false positive.
Everlearn Prestons posted the news on social media, saying it will reopen on Monday as normal.
“We are delighted to inform you that we just got off the phone with the Public Health Unit and we can confirm that the potential COVID-19 case that attended Everlearn last week was a FALSE positive result,” the centre posted on Facebook.
“This has been confirmed using two testing methods and the Public Health Unit is 100 per cent satisfied that the result is NEGATIVE.”
The centre thanked the community and staff for their “unwavering support” during this “difficult time”.
Holsworthy state Liberal MP commended the centre for the way it handled the situation.
“They closed for deep cleaning straight away and looked after a lot of worried families — with the support of the professional NSW Health team,” Ms Gibbons posted on Facebook.
“Great work by all and I’m glad we worked together as I’d rather be safe than sorry.”
Ms Gibbons urged the community to maintain social distancing and good hygiene practises as a number of areas in Sydney’s southwest were identified as hotspots.
They include Carnes Hill shops, Prestons, Bonnyrigg, Wetherill Park, Mt Pritchard, Bankstown City Plaza and Cabramatta.
