Close to 2000 jobs will be created in western Sydney after plans for a major industrial estate in Kemps Creek were approved.
A concept plan and development application for stage one of the Oakdale West Industrial Estate, proposed by Goodman Property Services, were granted consent by the NSW Government.
Oakdale West is part of the wider $3 billion Oakdale Industrial Estate and its approval will see the creation of 1000 construction jobs and 1845 jobs in the precinct.
The next four stages of the state significant development are set to be delivered over the next 10 years.
NSW Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes said it was the latest project to be approved in the Western Sydney Employment Area — the state’s largest employment zone.
“This is NSW’s single largest industrial greenfield precinct and a key job generator in western Sydney, which is expected to see more than 200,000 additional jobs created over the next 20 years,” he said.
Mr Stokes said the development will inject millions of dollars in capital investment in the area, with jobs close to home, transport and Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek.
NSW Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Minister Stuart Ayres said 22 new businesses will be based within the precinct, joining Toyota, Costco and DHL.
“This is yet another important step in building a strong western Sydney for the future, where people can expect to find quality jobs closer to where they live in a city which will be the economic powerhouse of the state.”
A new two-land road will be constructed to connect the estate to Lenore Dr and provide access to the M7 and M4 motorways.
