Moorebank Marina plans on public exhibition
The public are invited to have a say on the multimillion-dollar Georges Cove Marina proposal, with the developer hoping to create a premier riverside destination in Liverpool.
Submissions are open for the proposed Georges Cove Marina as part of the developer’s second bid to get the multimillion-dollar project off the ground.
Benedict Industries re-lodged its development application for the marina last year and the proposal is set to be determined by the Sydney Western City Planning Panel.
In August 2018, Benedict Industries co-managing director Ernest Dupere told the Leader:
“I think clearly its time has come and we hope the community will support it so we can get through the planning scheme.”
The development, which has an estimated cost of $51.6 million, according to details on Liverpool Council’s e-planning portal, would include a maritime building housing a dry berth facility for 250 craft, a function centre, tourist, entertainment, recreation and club facilities, and petrol and diesel storage tanks.
The proposal also includes plans for a wet berth facility for 186 craft, three external carparking areas and basement carpark with 637 car spaces and a private marina clubhouse.
The development will span about 13ha.
Residents can have their say on the project until August 1.
An Environmental Impact Statement prepared by EMM Consulting for Benedict Industries states: “It is an innovative proposal which is sensitive to the high value riverine locality and will provide valuable community recreational infrastructure which will reconnect the community with the river foreshore.”
