Mazen Kabbara to plead not guilty over teen deaths at Abbotsbury

The man charged after allegedly chasing two teens who were killed after they stole his car from his southwest Sydney home will fight a string of charges following the fatalities.

The man charged after allegedly chasing two teens who were killed after they stole his car from his Edmondson Park home will fight a string of charges following the fatalities.

Mazen Kabbara, 37, allegedly followed the 17 and 15-year-old brothers when they stole a Holden Commodore SS from his home on November 1.

Kabbara allegedly got into a Holden Acadia SUV and followed the pair and a third teen, who survived the crash, until they reached the intersection of Cowpasture Rd and the Horsley Drive, Abbotsbury, at 4.20am.

The two boys who can’t be name for legal reasons, were thrown from the car, which smashed into a pole, and died at the scene.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Kabbara was charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of negligent driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

At Liverpool Court on Wednesday, Kabbara did not appear but was represented by his lawyer Fadi Abbas, who said he would be pleading not guilty to the offences.

The matter was adjourned to the same court on February 8.
