Man accused of ‘upskirting’ teen arrested and charged

A man who allegedly took an image up a 16-year-old girl’s skirt while she was shopping with her sister in Liverpool has been charged with five counts of intentionally record intimate image without consent.

A man who allegedly took an image up a 16-year-old girl’s skirt while she was shopping at Liverpool will face court next month.

The teenager was with her 26-year-old sister at a supermarket inside a shopping centre on Macquarie St, Liverpool, when the incident allegedly occurred about 3.50pm on Friday, July 19.

Police will allege the man, 25, walked behind the pair and took an image up the teenager’s skirt before leaving the supermarket.

The girl and her mother reported the incident to Liverpool police on Tuesday, July 23.

On Wednesday, shopping centre security staff informed police the man believed to be involved in the incident had returned to the location.

Officers swooped in and arrested the man from Liverpool before taking him to Liverpool Police Station.

Investigators searched the man’s mobile phone and allegedly discovered four further videos recorded between December 2018 and February 2019.

He was charged with five counts of intentionally record intimate image without consent.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday, August 28.

He has been banned from the shopping centre.
