A 62-year-old man has been charged after allegedly leaving a toddler locked in his car at Casula mall car park.

Police allege the three-year-old boy was locked in a 4WD car before being discovered by a concerned shopper, who then called emergency services.

Paramedics and police arrived on the scene around 3pm, with the boy allegedly in the car for seven minutes before it was unlocked by a family member.

The boy received treatment for heat-related symptoms before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.

The 62-year-old man was charged with leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle, and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on April 12.

The Department of Communities and Justice were also notified of the incident.

NSW police has reminded the public that it’s unsafe in any circumstances to leave a child unattended in a vehicle.
