Two siblings killed in a tragic car crash in Sydney’s southwest have been remembered as “beautiful souls”, as almost $50,000 has been raised to support the family.

Alina Kauffman, 24, was picking up her 15-year-old brother Ernesto from his first job at Kmart when their car was involved in a collision with a Mercedes 4WD allegedly travelling at high speed in Heckenberg on September 1.

Johnson Kokozian, 20, was arrested 18 hours after the collision with police to allege he was behind the wheel of a stolen Mercedes Benz which hit and killed the siblings. He has been charged with six offences, including two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, and remains before the courts.

The siblings leave behind their younger sister Ayeanna, and single mother Angelina.

Family friend Alana Sisifa launched a fundraiser to help cover the funeral costs to ensure the siblings were “remembered with the dignity and respect they were denied in their final moments”.

“She (Angelina Kauffman) now faces not only the unimaginable loss of her two beloved children but also the daunting financial responsibility of arranging a dignified farewell for them,” the GoFundMe page states.

Ernesto was remembered as a loving son with a “passion for animals and an ambitious dream of saving to buy his first car”.

“Alina, a beautiful, fun-loving 24-year-old with a heart full of compassion, was pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse, a testament to her caring nature,” Ms Sisifa said.

The fundraiser has reached $49,304 of the $50,000 target since it launched on September 3.

Ms Sisifa said “no family should have to face such a devastating loss alone” as the siblings’ sister Ayeanna “must now navigate the profound loss of her cherished brother and sister”.

Liverpool Local Court previously heard Kokozian, whose licence was allegedly suspended, fled the scene in another vehicle after the collision without checking on the dying siblings.

He was seen later that night on social media video eating KFC chicken and chips and joking with a mate, before handing himself into police.

The 61-year-old father of Johnson Kokozian has been charged with concealing a serious indictable offence and hindering an investigation.

The girlfriend of Kokozian, Tiana Savignano and a friend of Kokozian, Cruz Pamoana Davis-Tuka, 21, were both charged with conceal serious indictable offence and hinder investigation.
