Junior footballers will benefit from a $50,000 upgrade of Greenway Park if Labor wins the May 18 election, Werriwa federal Labor MP Anne Stanley said.

Ms Stanley and Opposition treasury spokesman Chris Bowen recently visited Southwest Tigers Junior Football Club and announced funds would be set aside for the construction of small grandstand structures on the oval at Greenway Park.

The clubhouse will also undergo a renovation.

Ms Stanley said in a statement the project will revitalise the Australian football playing grounds and provide a welcoming environment for players and supporters.

“Australian football is a sport rapidly expanding into southwest Sydney. Participating in regular sporting commitments provides kids with a strong sense of community and achievement from a young age.”

She said Labor had a comprehensive plan to support local teams and local councils delivering sporting facilities.
