Designs for a new high school that will cater to 2000 students, and create almost 600 new jobs, have been revealed for Sydney’s southwest.
A public information session was held by NSW School infrastructure at Edmondson Park Primary School’s library to discuss the future high school.
Edmondson Park High School plans unveil four buildings, ranging from one to five storeys, for a mix of teaching, support and specialist spaces.
The facilities will include a gymnasium, library, lecture theatre, canteen, performing arts hub, science learning hub, 40 permanent classrooms and three support learning classrooms.
Construction will be rolled out in two phases, with stage one providing capacity for 800 students and core facilities for the total 2000 students planned for completion by 2027. Stage two is awaiting additional business case and funding approval by mid-2024.
A spokeswoman for NSW School infrastructure said they’re progressing with the approval process and aim for both stages to be “delivered concurrently.”
“The high school will aim to meet the future enrolment needs of the South West Sydney growth area,” she said.
Edmondson Park High School plans are currently on exhibition on the NSW planning portal for public feedback.
The plan is part of the state government’s plan to deliver $3.5 billion dollars for new and upgraded schools in Western Sydney.
