A healthcare worker at Liverpool Hospital is one of seven new cases of coronavirus recorded in NSW, with authorities investigating the source of the infection.

Contact tracing is now underway.

It comes after 15 cases, including nine healthcare workers, were recently linked to Concord and Liverpool Emergency Departments.

Of the new cases recorded in the last 24-hour reporting period, three were overseas travellers in hotel quarantine.

Another is from Victoria and is also in quarantine.

Two — including a household contact of a previous case linked to Concord Hospital — are locally acquired and linked to a known case or cluster.

A student at Blue Mountains Grammar School has also tested positive for COVID-19 and will be included in tomorrow’s numbers.

The school has closed while contact tracing and deep cleaning take place.

Health authorities are urging those who live or work in the Sydney’s southwest, west and southeast to get tested even if they have mild symptoms amid concerns testing rates had dropped over the past two weeks.

“While the number of locally acquired cases recorded in the past 24 hours is low, the virus is likely circulating among people in the community with mild symptoms. As such, the risk of outbreaks and a resurgence of cases remains,” a NSW Health spokeswoman said.

“It’s vital that everyone who does have the virus is tested and diagnosed, in order to stop further spread to others.”

There were 8835 tests reported in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday compared with 9316 in the previous 24 hours.

NSW Health is currently treating 86 cases of COVID-19 including six in intensive care.
