Busby: Man injured, taken to hospital after house fire on Aberdeen Rd

A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital after suffering burns from a house fire in southwest Sydney.

A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital after escaping a burning home in Sydney’s southwest.

Emergency services were called to a home on Aberdeen Rd in Busby around 2.45pm on Tuesday with reports of a fire in a two-storey house.

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Acting Superintendent Mat Sigmund said the occupants of the home managed to escape safely prior to the fire taking hold on the upper level.

Paramedics treated a man in his 70s at the scene for minor burns to his head and shoulders, as well as smoke inhalation. He was transported to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Acting Superintendent Sigmund said there were 30 firefighters working to extinguish the blaze which has been contained to the second level of the home.

Investigations into the cause of the incident will commence after active firefighting operations conclude.
