An alleged Rebels bikie associate has found out the hard way you should never bring a knife to a gunfight after he was allegedly shot by a man police say he stabbed during a violent home invasion.
Police will allege a 32-year-old man armed with a knife and a 28-year-old woman forced entry to a Mersey Rd home in Bringelly at 11.20pm on Monday night in an apparent attempt to reclaim some personal property belonging to the woman, who used to reside at the address.
The 32-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 35-year-old male resident twice to the stomach and once to the back before stabbing a 29-year-old woman to the neck and leaving her with life-threatening injuries.
Police allege the 35-year-old male stabbing victim grabbed an unregistered 303 Winchester rifle and opened fire at the 32-year-old man’s white Holden Colorado as it drove away, leaving the younger man with a gunshot wound to his arm.
The blood-spattered car then struck a telegraph pole on the Northern Rd at high speed as the pair tried desperately to flee the scene.
The 28-year-old woman and another 35-year-old man at the Bringelly home were both uninjured.
Liverpool City police commander Paul Albury described the bloody event as an alarming incident.
“There were three people in the home, and it would’ve been terrifying when the entry was forced,” A/Supt Albury said.
“It’s an alarming escalation and police expect three people are going to be charged.”
Officers have recovered the unregistered firearm, which they allege the 35-year-old was not licensed to possess.
Police believe the 32-year-old and the 28-year-old woman intended to recover some personal items including clothing, which was still there from when the woman had recently been staying at the home.
Police are hoping to speak to the 32-year-old male gunshot victim, who is allegedly linked to the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang, this afternoon when he is released from hospital.
His female associate is already assisting police with their inquiries at Liverpool police station, and A/Supt Albury said police expected she would be charged with some very serious matters.
The female stabbing victim who sustained the worst injuries in the shocking incident remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Police do not expect to charge her or the second 35-year-old man at the home with any offences.
