A 20-year-old man from Chipping Norton who was allegedly caught in possession of imitation firearms and nearly half a kilogram of cannabis has had his bail application refused.

Hayden Morris Leslie King appeared at Liverpool Local Court today charged with eight offences including supply prohibited drug (small quantity), two counts of supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), three counts of possess prohibited drug and two counts of possess unauthorised prohibited firearm.

Police allegedly found imitation firearms and prohibited drugs during a vehicle search in Moorebank.

Police allege they found two replica pistols, 462g of cannabis, methylamphetamine, MDMA, GHB and the prescription drug Xanax during a vehicle search about 3pm in Moorebank on Tuesday.

Mr King was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with the offences.

Mr King’s solicitor today said bail should be granted in light of his client’s age, a “lack of antecedents” and a “lack of any firearms”.

The prosecution argued the imitation guns allegedly found in the vehicle had been modified to “more closely” resemble real firearms and that there was a “very serious” prosecution case in relation to the firearms charges.

Mr King’s application was refused by the court on the grounds he had not shown cause as to why bail should be granted.

The matter was adjourned to June 12 at Liverpool Local Court, with Mr King expected to enter a plea.
