A cop’s son who was drunk while out celebrating his birthday pulled his penis out in public and openly urinated on a pokie machine in front of shocked punters at an inner west pub.
Engadine man William Mayne, 20, left the Newtown Local Court on Tuesday with a criminal conviction as a result of his antics at Marrickville’s Vic On The Park in June.
The court was told Mayne’s father is a serving police officer and the young apprentice was “embarrassed and remorseful” after being “egged on” by his mates.
He was placed on a conditional release order for 12 months and fined $200 after pleading guilty to behaving in an offensive manner and damaging property.
According to court documents The Vic was the last stop for Mayne and his pals on June 7 after making their way around a number of Marrickville pubs.
Police facts state that while sitting at a poker machine Mayne “without warning removed his penis from the fly of his jeans and proceeded to urinate on the operating buttons”.
The stream, in clear view of patrons, lasted 21 seconds and ended with Mayne laughing with his mates at what he had done, the facts added.
Police described his act as “disgusting” in court documents, noting his friends had filmed the entire incident on their phones.
After zipping up Mayne then headbutted another pokie machine three times and cracked the screen while his mates again filmed him, according to court documents.
He made admissions to police who arrived at the scene and watched his actions on CCTV footage that captured his time at the pub.
The court heard the whole incident was in clear view of other patrons and Mayne had consumed eight to 10 beers.
Magistrate Glenn Bartley noted offences involving drunken antics at pubs “are rife” in the Newtown court area in convicting Mayne and ordering he undertake a rehab course as part of his sentence.
