Hundreds of new apartments are set to be added to Sydney’s inner west with the approval of a trio of towers.

Hundreds of new apartments will be added to Sydney’s inner west after the approval of a trio of towers.

Sydney-based developer P&N Sleiman Group recently updated its $80m project, which was originally one building, to three separate towers comprising hundreds of apartments both serviced and affordable in the heart of Burwood.

The plans have been approved by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, which stated that the proposal aligned with the state government’s priorities for well-located housing, including affordable options, in an area well-served by transport links.

Originally approved in 2020 for a 30-storey tower with 179 apartments, the new look development located at 28-34 Victoria St and 17 and 21 George St, Burwood, will includes two additional towers.

Building A on Victoria St – the original development – will include an additional ten storeys bringing the total to 40 storeys with an increase to 252 apartments.

Building B, at 21 George St, is a new 26-storey shop top housing project including 75 affordable apartments, nine serviced apartments with both retail and commercial space.

Building C, located at 17 George St, will provide 53 units across 33 levels.

In its assessment, the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure stated that the bulk and scale of the development were deemed appropriate for the character of the area.

Designed by Urban Link Architects, the project – named “Victoria Place” – is situated just 200 metres from Burwood train station and 750 metres from the future Burwood North Metro Station, directly opposite Westfield shopping centre.

Other developments close to the project include Holdmark’s $600m Burwood Place project, approved in 2022, and a $209m redevelopment of the nearby Burwood RSL.
