Getting around Strathfield and surrounding suburbs could become easier with a free bus service to begin next month.
The Strathfield Connector will stop at places including Strathfield Square, DFO (Direct Factory Outlet), Strathfield Library, Homebush shops, Homebush West shops, Strathfield South and Sydney Markets.
The buses will run seven days, from 7am-7pm, and arrive every 30 minutes.
Two 18-seat Hino Poncho minibuses and two 25-seat Mitsubishi Rosas will carry passengers.
Strathfield Council will provide the service along two routes: northern and southern.
It is still to confirm the starting date.
Mayor Gulian Vaccari said the Strathfield Connector provided the missing link between the north and south of the area.
He said people travelling east and west were well served by trains and buses.
“But if you want to connect with other areas, it’s very difficult,” he said.
Children travelling to school and shoppers were among those who may benefit, according to Cr Vaccari.
The council is seeking sponsorship to help cover costs.
