She may have played her last Super Netball game but retiring star Kim Green might eventually make a return to the league - in a completely different capacity.
The former Diamonds star and Giants captain says she is looking forward to a future no longer dominated by trainings at Sydney Olympic Park and weekly games around the country.
But she plans to continue her coaching work - a passion she says could potentially see her leading a team in the top domestic competition in the world.
“I’m definitely not ruling that out,’’ said Green when quizzed on a possible return to the league in a different role in the future.
“I love coaching, I love dissecting a game, putting strategies in place. I’m definitely not ruling that out.
“I would love to stay a part of netball in general. I won’t be too far away.
“I love coaching because I love to empower young women in sport, see them growing in confidence in themselves.’’
Green and former teammate Sarah Wall are the brainchild’s behind MY NETFIT app which provide users with access to an interactive netball resource for both players and coaches.
Sutherland Shire netballer Green retired from international netball after Australia won the 2015 World Cup but stayed on to captain the Giants - one of the foundation clubs of Super Netball when the competition started in 2016.
She played 74 games for the Diamonds after making her Australian debut back in 2008, played in two World Cup winning side in 2011 and 2015 and also picked up a Commonwealth Games gold in 2014.
For 17 years she played in the top domestic competitions in Australia.
“It’s been an incredible 17 years playing the game I love at this level and I’ve loved every minute of it,” said Green whose career finished in the final game of Super Netball when the Giants failed to advance into the playoffs.
“I’ve made lifelong friends and the times I’ve spent with teammates, coaches and support staff are memories that will stay with me forever.
