An inner west bikie will fight police charges after detectives allege he was involved in a wild pub brawl with his brother and fellow Mongol member.
Luke Owens, 31, is alleged to have used “unlawful violence” in an altercation with his brother Shayden and assaulting another man after the alleged Rydalmere Tavern dust-up last October.
Both brothers are members of the inner west chapter of the Mongols, according to police.
What allegedly started the brawl between the brothers has yet to be aired in open court.
Luke Owens’ case went before Burwood Local Court on Monday where he has pleaded not guilty two counts of affray and one of common assault against his brother and an unknown man.
The Eastwood man did not appear in person, though he is on strict police bail.
Shayden Owens appeared in the same court last week charged with affray over the incident after he was picked up by detectives as part of a joint NSW Police-AFP operation tackling members of the Mongols across the country.
When police raided his Rhodes home last December they allegedly found $57,000 in cash and steroids.
They also located a Mongols branded motorbike and gang-marked vest.
The allegations involving the brothers marks another chapter in a tumultuous period for the gang’s fledging chapter.
Police put four members of the same chapter before the courts last year and have sought to cut ties between the group through onerous conditions they have to abide by while on bail.
The inner west was previously thought to have a rising and influential chapter before several of the group were arrested in 2020.
Both Luke and Shayden Owens will appear back in Burwood Local Court later this year.
