A western Sydney man charged with child sex assault is facing potentially years in jail if convicted after he was allegedly caught in the act by someone walking into the room.
Disturbing details surrounding how the minor was abused have been aired in court and include allegations the child was raped and sexually assaulted on multiple occasions.
Police say his alleged offending only came to a stop when he was allegedly caught abusing the child when somebody walked into the room.
News Corp has chosen not to name the Regents Park man, 41, who was arrested last October and is accused by police of allegedly subjecting the minor to a torrent of sexual abuse.
According to the facts read out to the court during a previous bail application, police allege the man made admissions to officers after his arrest.
He has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated sexual assault and incite another to sexually touch them among 11 other sex offences.
Police prosecutor Sergeant David Tran previously described the facts as “disturbing” and argued he would have continued offending if he wasn’t caught.
Some of the allegations contained in court documents are too graphic to print.
The man sat quietly with his head in his hands at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday as his case was briefly mentioned.
He has previously been denied bail and a Director of Public Prosecutions solicitor told Magistrate Greg Grogin on Wednesday the alleged victim has been consulted and the case was almost ready to be heard in the District Court.
A previous magistrate described the charges as “of the worst possible kind” when the man applied to be released on bail.
He has not yet entered a plea to any charges, according to court documents.
He will return to Burwood Local Court later this year.
