Bargain hunters can snap up rare and exquisite jewellery for a fraction of the original price tag when more than 260 items worth more than $2m go under the hammer this Sunday.
The auction of Germani Sydney (in liquidation) at Ashfield Town Hall will be one of the largest high quality jewellery auctions ever staged in Australia.
Germani Sydney (in liquidation) is not to be confused with Germani Jewellery, a different entity, which is open and operating at the Hilton Hotel on George St.
Among the most valuable items at the auction is a magnificent sapphire and diamond ring set in 18 carat white gold with just under four carats of diamonds.
First State Auctions expects it to sell for between $8000 and $10000, representing a huge reduction from its ticketed price of $66,500.
Items being auctioned include GIA certified diamonds, Swiss watches, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, pearls, rings, pendants and bracelets.
First State managing director Ari Taibel said it was rare to have so many high end pieces up for sale at the same time.
“We have some beautiful and unique pieces of jewellery to sell, with more than 25 diamond rings ranging from half a carat to five carats,” he said.
“This is a once in a blue moon opportunity for people to potentially buy precious jewellery for a quarter or less than the retail ticketed price.”
Auction items are expected to sell at 75 to 58 per cent less than their original price tag.
The collection includes a host of Italian designer fine jewellery rarely seen in Australia.
Brands include Pasquale Bruni, Palmiero, Giovanni Ferraris, Favero and more.
IN OTHER NEWS
One of the most rare items going under the hammer is the Palmiero Saphire from the famous Italian artist and atelier Carlo Palmiero.
The exquisite piece of jewellery combines natural sapphires in all different shades set among high quality white diamonds with the workmanship and attention to detail reminiscent of days gone by.
Germani Sydney is in liquidation with all stock to be auctioned under the instructions of the secured creditor.
The auction is being held at Ashfield Town Hall this Sunday, February 24 and will also be streamed online with hundreds of people expected to bid online in real time.
All items can be viewed online at www.firststateauctions.com.au and on auction day from 11am at the venue.
