Police have dropped a child sex charge against a medal-winning Sydney bodybuilder, which he had strongly denied since he was first arrested.
Oliver Sheldrick, 21, had been charged with intentionally carrying out a sex act with or towards a child aged under 10 at a location in Sydney’s inner west in June 2022.
He was apprehended at 5.12pm on June 22 by officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command and taken to Burwood police station, where he was subsequently granted bail.
Sheldrick had pleaded not guilty to the offence at Downing Centre Local Court in October 2022, and was set to fight the charge at a hearing on April 28.
However, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew the single charge at Downing Centre Local Court on April 20 and it was dismissed by the court.
Sheldrick previously worked as a fitness trainer and came second in the IFBB Bodybuilding Juniors category in early 2021.
