Ridiculous wigs and crazy accents are all in a day’s work for actor-comedian Nicola Parry in Part-Time Private Eyes, a new TV series airing as part of Network 10’s pilot week.

Parry has joined forces with her bestie, actor Heidi Arena for this new comedy that proves spying can be a mother of a job.

“We were lamenting the juggle of school drop-off pick-up and what kind of work we could take within those hours and someone made the joke that we should be private investigators because we could use our acting skills,” the Lilyfield mother of two said.

“We thought, actually that’s a great concept for a show.”

Parry and Arena, who became best friends and collaborators after working together on Thank God You’re Here, roll out a couple of guest stars in the form of Alex Papp and Nadine Gardner in this “good old-fashioned comedy”.

“It is physical comedy, its situational - it’s the situations these women get themselves into,” Parry said.

“It involves climbing out of car windows, getting stuck in a cupboard, wearing ridiculous wigs and putting on crazy accents.”

The comedy duo are thrown deep into the world of working undercover, rushing to solve cases between 9am and 3pm and creating lots of mayhem and laughs along the way.

“Kylie and I have always laughed together through life and raising families, which is such a hard job, Parry said.

“I think laughter and having a sense of humour is such a lifesaver. It certainly has been for me.”

Network Ten’s second annual pilot week, that begins on September, 8 is brimming with home-grown content including Sydney’s Crazy Rich Asians, I Am…Roxy! and My 80 Year Old Flatmate.

Network 10 chief content officer Beverley McGarvey said: “It is clear that more domestic content is what our audiences really crave, and we are working hard to ensure we can provide an innovative and diverse slate of local shows”.
