Forget Sculpture by the Sea — this weekend Casula will play host to an exhibition featuring stunning bronze and marble sculptures in a bushland setting.
Artist Vince Vozzo, who lives in Sydney’s inner west, will present his unique sculptures and life drawings at Mount Omei, the first private modern art gallery in western Sydney.
The gallery was established in 1976 by local artist Alice Klaphake, who would go on to introduce Vozzo to fellow artist and now wife, Angela Vozzo.
The exhibition will be presented inside the historical gallery as well as outdoors in the sprawling gardens.
It runs over two weekends, August 31 to September 1 and September 7 to 8.
Members of the public are invited to see the exhibition from 1pm until 5pm.
Sydney poet Bhupen Thakker will perform a reading of his works at 3pm on Saturday to mark the launch and there will be a stone carving demonstration on September 7.
The Liverpool Art Society will hold a life model class on September 8.
Vozzo said it was the first time he had curated his own show.
“I’ve really gone out on my own … most artists can’t really do that,” he said.
The exhibition will be held at 17 Leacocks Lane, Casula.
