A Newtown woman has yelled “oh my godfather” as she collected $82,486.70 in Keno winnings from the Town Hall Hotel.
Last week’s win on July 4 is $32,000 more than she initially thought she won, doubling the shock of her lucrative Keno win.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said she was not watching the screen when the winning ticket was in her hand.
When she finally looked up at the television, and saw someone had won, she said: “I thought, ‘oh my godfather, what if it’s me?’.
“So I looked it up on my phone and I thought I won $50,000 because it didn’t say how much I won.
“Then I went up to the counter and the guy told me I won $82,000 and I went ‘oh my f***ing godfather, you are joking?’.
“When I thought it was $50,000 I was excited, but when I saw it was $82,000 I just went crazy.”
The money, which the woman will spend on bills and furniture for the house, has “come at the perfect time”.
Town Hall Hotel duty manager Darianne Whitmore said: “It’s great for the hotel. We are feeling lucky.”
Patrons win big on Keno, with 2018 creating 16 millionaires and multi-millionaires nationally.
In NSW last year, players won $519 million in cash prizes.
