‘The righteous shall taketh from the punters’: a Newtown mural ridicules Folau’s crowd-funding campaign.

Israel Folau’s over $1.5 million GoFundMe crowd-funding campaign has been immortalised on a Newtown wall.

It shows the sacked Wallabies star begging in front of a yellow Lambourgini.

The mural by street artist Scott Marsh appeared on the back wall of the Botany View Hotel overnight.

The mural depicts Folau wearing Gucci slides and socks, with an ATM card machine and a donation pot resting at his feet.

A cardboard sign reads: “The righteous shall taketh from the punters for the divinity of ones property portfolio is most sacred in the eyes of the lord. Amen!”

The “prayer” is followed by his BSB and account number, and a disclaimer for a “Free bottle of holy water with each donation.”

The Botany View Hotel is inviting people to come past this evening and “tap a charity keg to raise money for a more deserving GoFundMe than Izzy’s legal fees.”

The caption of the Instagram post directs social media users to a GoFundMe page for a Singleton family devastated by fire.

In the first Instagram post, Scottie Marsh writes: “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Mathew 19:24”.

Folau originally asked the public to help him raise $3 million for legal fees, losing $765,000 when the page was shut down by the fundraising site.

A GoFundMe campaign relaunched by the Australian Christian Lobby raised over $1 million in 17 hours.

Israel is one of many newsworthy muses for Mr Marsh, who have included the smiling Egg Boy, a hailing and patriotic Fraser Anning and Mike “Casino” Baird.
