New Sydney cafe serves “domuts” and “doggie chinos” to four-legged foodies

POOCHES are licking their lips and wagging their tails for “domuts”, “doggie peanut butter blueberry smoothies” and “doggie chinos” being served at a new Sydney dog-friendly cafe.

INNER west pooches are licking their lips and wagging their tails for “domuts”, “doggie peanut butter blueberry smoothies” and “doggie chinos” being served at a new dog-friendly cafe.

Naked Brew in Erskineville is treating a man’s best friend to the brunch lifestyle with special sweet and savoury treats on the menu for the local four-legged foodies.

A section of the menu — what about the pooch? — features food items for dogs including domut, doggie peanut butter blueberry smoothie, doggie chino and the doggie super meal.

While dog owners are served up crackling pork belly, soft shell crab Benedict or spaghetti bolognaise on toast in the midmorning, canines are sniffing out a mouth-watering treat from the menu.

The doggie super meal is made with wild and brown rice, shredded poached chicken, carrots and broccoli.

They are iced with peanut butter and Greek yoghurt and topped with fresh raspberries and blueberries.

The domuts (dog doughnuts with a choice of peanut butter, raspberry or carob chocolate) are from an 11-year-old supplier.

Customer and dog lover, Emma Taylor, takes Jordan the cockalear along to the cafe a couple of times a week.

“It’s nice to be able to go somewhere and be able to take your dogs,” she said.

“We were excited when we saw a menu for dogs.

“Jordon likes the domuts.”

Owner Kevin Luu, 28, the founder and former owner of Euforia Balmain East, opened Naked Brew on December 4.

He said he introduced the food items for pooches as the inner west was a dog-loving neighbourhood.

“I feel that Naked Brew is becoming the place to be, where dogs can meet other dogs and we can spoil them with treats,” Mr Luu said.

“I like community areas with plenty of morning exercises, mothers groups and lots of dogs.”

Mr Luu said his Maltese, Cooki, 16, and King Charles Maltese, Muffin, 9, inspired him to add the dog menu.

Naked Brew is located at 110 Swanson St, Erskineville.
