Man charged with dangerous driving after Ashfield crash leaves cyclist in critical condition

A 24-year-old man has been hit with a series of charges and banned from driving following a collision between a car and a push bike in Sydney’s inner west.

A 24-year-old man has been charged following a serious crash that left critically injured a cyclist in Sydney’s inner west.

More than 10 emergency crews responded to the collision, between a car and a push bike, at the intersection of Milton and Norton streets, in Ashfield, about 10.50am on November 1.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 58-year-old rider, who had suffered head, body and leg injuries, before taking him to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The 24-year-old male driver was not injured but was taken to Canterbury Hospital for mandatory testing.

Later that afternoon, he was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle and not stopping at a red light.

The man was granted conditional bail to face Burwood Local Court on December 17.

His driver’s licence has also been suspended.
