Maellis Fakih Jabinet, Hamza Khan: Couple in court over gun

A glam French national has been caught up in a western Sydney shooting after allegedly taking videos showing off the gun. Her boyfriend, wanted over the shooting, was allegedly hiding in her laundry.

A glamorous French national has been charged after allegedly flashing a gun in videos while her partner is accused of going on the run, wanted over a Lakemba shooting.

Police swarmed on Maellis Jabinet’s Marrickville unit on Thursday morning where they allegedly located her partner Hamza Khan hiding in the laundry.

Khan, 27, has been charged with shoot with intent to murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm over his alleged role in an August incident which saw a man shot five times in the leg and abdomen.

Police were called to the scene on Garrong Rd, Lakemba about 8.15pm on August 31 after reports the man was lying in the street bleeding and injured.

Officers believed Khan had been avoiding authorities and had allegedly found incriminating videos on Jabinet’s phone.

Police allege Jabinet, 26, from Fontenay-sous-Bois outside Paris, was seen flashing a Browning handgun in a series of clips on her phone and in possession of drugs when she was arrested.

She has not been charged with having any involvement in the shooting but is facing a charge of possessing the firearm.

The alleged videos were uncovered after the home was forensically examined by specialist police officers.

The 26-year-old, whose social media depicts several bikini shots from eastern suburbs beaches, appeared briefly in Newtown Local Court on Friday.

She was granted bail on strict conditions by Magistrate Glenn Bartley, including that she not contact her partner and be home by 6pm every night.

Khan’s case was also mentioned in the same court but he will remain in custody until November so it can join up with co-accused Bilal Haider Khan and Ayman El-Sankari, who are facing identical charges.
