A man who police allege performed a sex act with a women near to a school tried to hide behind his hat as he faced court for the first time.

A man has faced court after allegedly performing a sexual act with a woman in front of unsuspecting children as they made their way to school.
Manly’s Luke Richard William Thomas was arrested last Monday (February 17) near to St Michael the Archangel Catholic School, Stanmore, around 8.40am.
He was accompanied by his father at Newtown Court on Monday (February 24) where he pleaded not guilty to four charges including wilfully and obscenely expose his person, offensive conduct in view of a public place and school, and two counts of possess prohibited drugs.
Police were called to Weekley Park, near the school, where it is alleged the 39-year-old
performed a sexual act with a 31-year-old woman.
A number of children and parents were in or around the park at the time as school was starting, police allege in court documents.
Police allege Thomas was also found with 0.3 grams of methamphetamine and 0.6 grams of cannabis.
The woman, who will appear at Newtown Local Court on Thursday March 12, was charged with offensive behaviour.
Thomas will return to Newtown Local Court on April 6.
