Police in Sydney’s inner west have charged a man after he allegedly sexually assaulted two women he met on dating apps last year.

Joshua Paul Rini, 29, handed himself into police at Surry Hills police station after a public appeal to locate him by detectives today.

Police will allege in court he sexually assaulted two women in separate incidents at his home in Glebe in December 2019 after initially meeting them through a dating app.

Rini has been charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and was refused bail to appear in Central Local Court today.

In appealing for public assistance to locate Rini, Leichhardt police said he was known to live around the inner west but was working in the Sydney CBD.

Police had issued an arrest warrant after two women came forward to report the alleged rapes.

“Consent is a primary factor in every sexual assault, whether it be in an established relationship, a person you connected with on social media, or a complete stranger,” Leichhardt commander Superintendent Alf Sergi said.

“Without consent, a person’s rights are violated, and a crime is being committed.”

Rini’s matter was mentioned in the Central Local Court where it was adjourned to be heard again at a later date.
