An invitation to an “adult party” to one Sydney suburb’s Facebook group has left members flushed, and the neighbouring suburb’s group hot with jealousy.
Summer Hill People, the local Facebook group for residents of the leafy and quaint Inner West suburb, were left gobsmacked, but intrigued, on Thursday when an anonymous poster extended an open invite to an “adult party” to all members.
“Yes, it is what you think it is, many names to call it but let’s just call it triple x,” the anonymous poster said.
“Not a scam, don’t need to pay anything. Summer Hill has some great characters and we thought winding down and just having a bit of fun is necessary.”
The post invited expressions of interest to the email address: summerhillx@gmail.com.
A second post, however, lamented the gender imbalance in respondents, or so the anonymous adult party organiser alleged.
“Thanks again for the overwhelming response on the last post about our adult event, and yes it’s actually happening,” the post said.
“However, we are facing a bit of a dilemma…
“Surprisingly, we have had many females email their interest and not many men in comparison, which surprised me.
“If any guys and still any girls are genuinely interested again email.”
As expected, the posts and invite ignited the fire of a traditionally quieter suburb of the Inner West.
“Bruh, it’s been 15 months – when and where,” one person asked in the comments.
“Great initiative, don’t listen to the haters,” another wrote.
“Taking ‘love thy neighbour’ a bit too seriously,” another comment read.
However, in neighbouring Ashfield’s own Facebook group, some were outraged that the invite didn’t extend across suburb lines.
“I’m quite frankly pissed off that they’ve excluded us with their ‘preferably Summer Hill residents’ bull**it,” one person wrote.
“Not very neighbourly of them!”
The suburb’s plentiful Romeo’s IGA also didn’t escape the criticism.
“I’m so bored of their superiority complex, I get it they have a big cheese room in their IGA, whoop, whoop,” the post said.
The post encouraged Ashfield to host their own ‘adult party’.
More to come.
