Matthew Mitcham is keen to get among the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras hype.
His latest cabaret show, Twists and Turns will be part of the popular event’s program list.
“The Mardi Gras is one of the biggest celebrations in the world and I’m really proud to be part of it,” Mitcham said.
When he’s not in the pool, the Olympic dive champion, is refining the singing and dancing skills that have earned him great credibility.
His unique show, based on his courageous and revealing autobiography, details his highs and lows through a mix of theatre and song.
“I’m always getting positive feedback about it,” he said. “A lot of people tell me how they connect with my story.”
Twists and Turns features an eclectic line-up of music from artists including Alanis Morissette, New Order, Rufus Wainwright, Who Da Funk and The Spice Girls, carefully woven into an articulate, funny and at times poignant story.
It will also feature trampolining, ukulele-playing and drag performances.
Mitcham said his show promises plenty of surprises.
Twists and Turns will feature in the 2015 Sydney Mardi Gras program on February 26-28.
